Burl Bourns Obituary
Burl was born on May 13, 1937 in De Queen, Arkansas to Luther and Cordelia Bourns. He moved with his family to the Acuff community in 1949 and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956. He honorably served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959. He was a Master Electrician and started Artex Electric, Inc. in 1971. Burl was an avid fisherman, pilot, race car driver, and enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Maudean Blagg.
He is survived by his life partner, Joy Runyon of Earth, Texas; daughter, Dana LaRue and her husband Gary of Plano, Texas; son, Tony Bourns and wife Lainie of Allen, Texas; grandchildren: Nicole Mueller and her husband John of Celina, Texas, Lance Merlo of New York City, NY, Jake Bourns of Wylie, Texas, Kyler and Kannon Bourns of Allen, Texas; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Montgomery and her husband Bill of Pottsboro, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m., to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 19, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel.
