Byrd T. "Buster" Mooney

Byrd T. Buster Mooney FLOYDADA-Byrd T. Buster Mooney, age 83, passed away in New Mexico, on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at the Floydada Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 Sunday at Moore-Rose Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada. Byrd was born on May 20, 1931, to O.R. and Roe Annie (Terrell) Mooney in Oglesby, Texas. Byrd moved to Floydada in 1934; he graduated from Floydada High School in 1950. He was drafted into the Army on May 11, 1953, and volunteered for the paratroopers. He was honorably discharged from the Army May 10, 1955. Byrd worked for many years at the Amerada Hess and over 30 years for Peabody Coal in Kayenta, Arizona. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rex and Bob; and a sister, Murice. Byrd was survived by a sister, Jo Beth Walker of Lubbock; three nephews, Mike Walker, (Holli, Landon and Logan) of Lubbock, Stevan Walker of Lubbock, Rex Mooney (Barbara and Kathrine) of River Ridge, L.A.; and a special Farmington family, Beth Ann Williams and family.
