Charlene Dreyer Obituary

Charlene Shaw Dreyer LUBBOCK-Charlene Shaw Dreyer, 80, of Lubbock passed away peacefully to join her husband, Dick and puppy, Jason on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at the age of 80. She was born Jan. 20, 1936, to the late Hughy and Thelma Shaw. Charlene graduate from Lubbock High School and worked as secretary for Jeff Wheeler Realty until marrying Dick Dreyer in Aug. of 1981. The couple moved to St. Joseph, MI, where she became involved in the Newcomer Club. After Dick's retirement, the couple moved to Lindale, Texas. Charlene moved back to Lubbock after Dick's death in 1992 to be close to family and friends. Throughout her life she enjoying spending time with her many cousins. She was fun-loving and enjoyed playing card, bridge and dominos. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Rich Dreyer and wife Mary Lou of Idaho; granddaughter, Laurie Smith and husband, Richard and their children, Kayla and Brynna, all of Idaho; sisters, Alta Shaw of the Hospitality House in Lubbock and Teresa Marsh and Darrell McKee of Wyoming; nephews, Landon Roberts, who referred to Charlene as his Grandma, and Jordan McKee; sister-in-law, Norma Dreyer; aunt, Jo Hardy; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Charlene also leaves behind her dear friends, Margaret Richardson and Mavis Bybee. Inurnment will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Resthaven Memorial Park. Charlene was a great lover of animals and giving back to the community. The family is requesting no flowers and instead for memorials to be made to the Animal Shelter of your choice, Meals on Wheels, or Kindred at Home Hospice Care.
