Connie Eckles Obituary

Connie Eckles LUBBOCK-Connie Marie Eckles of Lubbock passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at the age of 89. She was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Slaton to Homer and Annie Bell (Cavett) Wright. She was a music teacher at Bayless Elementary for more than 40 years and taught piano. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Connie has been a member of First Baptist Church since she was on the Cradle Roll at four months old, where she also taught many Sunday school classes. She also enjoyed playing games and cards with the 3R's at Highland Baptist Church, as well as the Hand and Foot Club. Connie was a Delta Kappa Gamma alumni. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Della Avila and husband, Emil of Lubbock; sister, Jane McCartor and husband, Darryl of Lubbock; nieces, Melanie Lowe, Michelle Harris, and Misty Neufeld; nephews, Mike Pritchard, Dennis McCartor, and Chris McCartor; and adopted granddaughter, Haley Rogers. Connie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Loveta Pritchard; and nephew, Jimmy Pritchard. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, at Combest Family Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at First Baptist Church Ford Chapel with interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
