Frances Pate

1929 - 2018

Idalou- Idalou- Frances Pate, age 88, passed away on March 24, 2018. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Idalou Cemetery. Arrangements under the personal direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Idalou.

Frances was born on November 15, 1929 in Comanche County to Madison and Estelle (Craig) Holmes. She married Eugene Pate on May 9, 1948 in Clovis, NM. They were happily married for over 52 years until Eugene's passing in September of 2000. After retirement Eugene and Frances, lived for many years in Ruidoso, New Mexico. While living in Ruidoso Frances enjoyed being an active member of Altrusa International. She and Eugene would later relocate back to Idalou.

Frances was a wonderful homemaker; who also worked as a bookkeeper. She worked for the Farmers Gin and the Idalou Cooperative in Idalou and later ran her own business, operating a Cotton Brokerage Company. Frances had a zest for life had an outgoing personality. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frances also liked to collect antiques.

Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church of Idalou.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Pate, her parents, her grandson, Russell Pate and a sister, Charlotte Colbert.

Frances is survived by her sons, Jeff Pate of Idalou, and Larry Pate and wife Cynthia of Idalou, her grandchildren, Jason Pate, Kevin Pate and Stephanie DuPree, and four great grandchildren, her sisters, Jerry Vinson of Levelland and Linda Holmes of Abilene.
