Frank Duckworth Obituary

Frank Duckworth LOCKNEY-Robert Franklin Duckworth Frank, 88, of Lockney, Texas, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at TRU Hospice Care Center in Louisville, Colo. He was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Dallas, Texas, to Robert F. Duckworth and Iva Lee Gilpin Duckworth. He married Erma Lee Hunt on Nov. 3, 1946, in Dallas, Texas. They moved to Lockney from Muleshoe in June 1966. Frank was a gospel preacher for the Church of Christ for 50 years, serving the Lockney West College and Third Street Church of Christ for 34 years, and retiring in June 2000 to care for his wife. In addition to being a great preacher, he was a devoted husband and a great dad. After moving to Lockney, he likely never missed any of his son's football, baseball, or basketball games. He was active in the local sports clubs and in the community. Frank served in the Army Air Force in World War II as ball-turret gunner in a B-17 bomber. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years; his parents; one daughter, Ruth Ann Conner; one son, Reed Edwin Duckworth; and one sister, Bertha Mae McFadden. Survivors include three sons, Robert Duckworth and wife Vickey of Seattle, Wash., Randy Duckworth and wife Becky of Firestone, Colo., and Rick Duckworth and wife Mary of San Antonio, Texas; one son-in-law, Elgin Conner and wife Cathryn of Levelland, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Karla Desper and husband Lane of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Robert McFadden and wife Ann of Kaufman, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at the West College and Third Street Church of Christ in Lockney with Steve McLean officiating and Elgin Conner assisting. Burial will be in the Dodson Cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney. The family suggests memorials be made to the West College and Third Street Church of Christ, P.O. Box 217, Lockney, TX 79241.
