Garry Haralson Obituary
Garry was born Wednesday, August 1, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated Roosevelt High School and went to Texas Tech before returning to the farm in Acuff. He married Melva Jo "Jody" Meason on June 2, 1972. Garry started farming with his father when he was five years old and farming was his occupation as well as his passion. Garry did enjoy Hunting, attending and helping at the First Baptist Church in Idalou and spending time with his family. Garry was a Deacon at his church, a charter member and volunteer fire fighter at the Roosevelt Fire Department from 1976 to current time serving as Assistant Chief and served on the Acuff McClung Gin board. Garry retired from farming in 2014 after 42 years. He was a great role model for his children and a rock for his beloved wife, Jody.
Garry is survived by his wife, Melva Jo Haralson, a daughter, Kayla and husband Larry LeBlanc, two sons, Cecil and wife Debra Haralson and Kendall Haralson; sisters, Marva Jean Aune & Sherri and husband Randy Burk; and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Imogene Haralson, and a sister, Cecilia Griffin.
A Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at First Baptist Church located at 102 E 7th Street Idalou, Texas 79329 with Philip Hilton & Vernon Rose officiating.
A Visitation is planned from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Friday, April 13, 2018 at Englunds Funeral Service, 1400 Woodrow RD, Slaton, TX 79364.
