Kay Habbinga Obituary

Kay Don Habbinga ALBA-The family of Kay Don Habbinga, 72, of Alba, will have a private memorial service at a later date. Mr. Habbinga passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at his residence in Alba. He was born Saturday, Sept. 25, 1943, in Lubbock, to the late Henry Enno and Opal Pauline Lail Habbinga. Kay Don married Claudia Inez Patterson on Sept. 27, 1968, in Lubbock. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, was a High Voltage Electrician in the Civil Service, and volunteered at the VA clinic in Lubbock for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lubbock, and First Baptist Church in Alba. Mr. Habbinga had lived in Alba for the last 11 years after moving from Lubbock. Survivors include his wife of almost 48 years, Claudia Habbinga of Alba; son, Mark and wife, Tawnya Habbinga of Flower Mound; two daughters, Kayla and husband, Chris Olson of Frisco and Wendi and husband, Justin Pendleton of the Colony; brother, Jackie and wife, Sue Habbinga of Combine; sister, Lesa Ward of Concho, AZ; seven grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation arrangements will be under direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home of Alba.

I worked at the VA clinic while Kay Don was a volunteer. Iremember him as a very nice man who always had a smile on his face. May God give you the peace that only he can give during your time of grief. Heaven is graced with a fine man

The Marines Purpose is clear, to fight the forces of evil for all eternity under the command of the ultimate Commander-In-Chief, GOD ALMIGHTY...
