Manuel Ramos

Manuel Ramos LUBBOCK-Manuel Ramos departed this world to be with his Heavenly Father on Nov. 21, 2015, at the age of 90 years old. Rosary will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 24th at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Lubbock. Burial will be in Peaceful Garden Cemetery. Manuel was born in Jayton, Texas, on May 8, 1925, to Miguel and Belen Ramos. He married Elena Bustillos in 1944. They were married for 56 years. He retired from Pioneer Natural Gas where he worked as a welder. In his early young adult life, he was active in his church as a Sagrado Corazon member, Usher, and Cursillista. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elena; their children, Manuelito and Hector Ramos; daughter, Edna Cortez; granddaughter, Sylvia Cantu; and his siblings, Jesus and Miguel Ramos, and Pauline Sierra and Lupe Mojica. Manuel is survived by his children, Irene Cantu, Elena Montalvo (Victor), John Ramos (Linda), Marie Gonzales (Joe), Yolanda Esparza (Richard), Mike Ramos (Mary), Olivia Garcia (Fabian); daughter-in-law, Nina Ramos and three brothers, Max, Sylvester and Robert Ramos; one sister, Anita Herrera; and many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren who adored their loving grandfather. Pallbearers will be Edward Cortez, Juan Cantu, Mickey Cantu, Jonathan Ramos, Hector Ramos, Jr., and Fabian Garcia, II. Manuel was a very kind, generous and innovative man. He enjoyed collecting antiques, sitting on his front porch or backyard as he chewed his tobacco, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. As a young man, he worked hard to provide assistance to his parents, and he was a silent hero to his siblings. His children knew what a great man Manuel was and always voiced their love and gratitude to their father. His entire family will greatly miss their loving, funny and mischievous father and grandfather, but we know that he is now rejoicing with our Heavenly Father and our deceased family members in paradise.
