Michael Drake Obituary

Santa Barbara- Michael Ray Drake was born on January 20, 1964 in Lubbock. TX, to C.R. (Buster) Drake and Judy Drake. He went to be with other loved ones on April 3, 2018 in Santa Barbara, CA. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 12:30 to 1:45 PM Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 54 years on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 2 PM at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. In early years growing up in a military family, he had the opportunity to live in several states. He started school in Parris Island, SC. He later attended school in Barstow, CA; Honolulu, HI; Frenship ISD Wolfforth, TX, and graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock, TX. Mike moved to California in his early 20's. He attended Cypress College of Mortuary Science in 2004. He was a funeral director at Welch-Ryce-Haider in Santa Barbara, CA for 12 years.

Mike had a heart of gold and wherever he lived, he considered himself as a Texan. He enjoyed boating on the "Judy Ann" and loved to travel. He looked forward to his annual trips to Hawaii with his Mom.

He is preceded in death by his father, Buster Drake; grandparents, Leila Drake and Christine and Odis Palmer; uncles and aunts, Jim and Daphne Young, Linda Kimbro, Carol Palmer; and cousin, Doug Young.

He is survived by his mother, Judy Drake of Wolfforth, TX; aunt, Brenda and Chuck Stennett of Olney, TX; cousins, Clint and Nancy Young and Kim Young of Ft. Worth, TX. Mike was blessed with many special friends.
