R J Rowden BROWNFIELD-Memorial services for R J Rowden, 96, of Wellman will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Carter officiating and Don Ragland assisting. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. R J passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, in Brownfield. He was born Aug. 29, 1916, in Springtown to John H. and Minnie Martha (Roe) Rowden. R J married Ruth Brazelton on Oct. 1, 1938, in Tahoka, Texas. She preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2008. He attended Brownfield Schools. R J and his wife were retired farmers. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. R J is survived by a son, Lewayne Rowden and his wife Elizabeth of Wellman; a daughter, Joy Osborn and her husband Steve of Brownfield; seven grandchildren, J Rowden and wife Stacy of Brownfield, Scott Rowden and wife Julie of Lubbock, Wade Rowden and wife Shanna of Lubbock, Sean Rowden and wife Karolen of Lubbock, Kristi Coleman and husband Jason of Ropesville, Jenny Breitschopf and husband Travis of Shamrock, and Kelli Isenbart and husband Heath of Alva, Okla.; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Shipman of Lubbock; a caregiver, Connie Akin. R J will be in state for viewing today from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a family visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Brownfield Funeral Home.
