Tommy Wayne Thompson

Tommy Wayne Thompson LUBBOCK-Tommy Wayne Thompson, 66, departed this life on April 30, 2016, after a valiant battle with cancer. Tommy was born in Lubbock, Texas, on Nov 22, 1949. He attended Lubbock High School. Among his many endeavors, he opened Hydraulic Service Company. Later expanding into the carwash industry across West Texas; he built and operated Sundance Carwash. In 1984, Tommy's Place was opened; a unique barbeque and music venue that was home to the local music scene. Tommy also had a restaurant in Johnson City called Tommy's Fried Green Tomatoes. The center of Tommy's life was his faith, family, and friends. You couldn't find a better friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray and brother, Danny. He is survived by his mother, Marie; sister, Sharon Ely and husband, Joe; his sons, Tommy Jr. (Susan), Jacob (Stacey); Lucas (Crystal); grandchildren, Whitney, Aden, Ian, Carlie and Lukey; niece, Marie Elena Ely; and best friend and previous wife, Pam Thompson Helms. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wed. May 4, 2016, at Bible Baptist Church, Slaton, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Youth Ministry at Bible Baptist Church, 525 W. Panhandle, Slaton, TX, 39564.
