Truman Ford Obituary

Truman T. Ford LUBBOCK-Truman Ford was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Wagnar, Texas. He moved with his family to Lubbock County in 1947. Truman married Janie Sue Clark on March 27, 1953, in Slaton. He entered the US Army in Sept. of 1953, during the Korean War. Returning to Slaton in 1955 he started a career as a Brakeman/Conductor with the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in August of 1996, after 41 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janie of the home; two sons, Jackey and wife Becky Ford of Slaton, Mark Ford of Lubbock; two daughters, Pam and husband Tony Thomas of San Angelo, Susan and husband Robert Van Meter of Cape Coral, Fla.; a brother, John Ford Jr. of Midland, and a sister-in-law, Nora Ford of Burnett; along with four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Truman passed from this life, Feb. 13, 2016, at the age of 82. A celebration of Truman's life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, in the First United Methodist Church in Slaton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the FUMC, or Slaton's Senior Citizen's Meals on Wheels.
