Wayne Holt

Wayne Holt May 6, 1933- Jan. 2, 2015 LUBBOCK-The family will gather at Broadway Church of Christ on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. for visitation and a memorial service to begin at 3 p.m. to celebrate the life of Wayne Holt. Wayne was born on May 6, 1933, in Olney, Texas, to Arthur Judson Holt and Flora Irene Holt. He graduated from Olney High School in 1951. He attended Paris Junior College and graduated from Abilene Christian College. While at ACC, he met Patsy Hufstedler while on a blind date and said I am going to marry that girl, even though he could not remember her last name when he would call her dorm to ask her for a date. They married on Oct. 8, 1955, at the Broadway Church of Christ and were married for 59 years. Wayne owned and operated Hufstedler Truck Co. in Lubbock. He moved to Austin, Texas, in 1996 and worked with his son, Mark at Star Customs until he retired in 2008. He moved back to Lubbock in August of 2013. He was baptized in 1954 while a student at ACC and was a member of the Church of Christ. He taught the junior high boy's Sunday school class and also served as an elder at the Broadway Church of Christ. He sat on the board of the Lubbock Children's Home and on the board of trustees at Abilene Christian University. He also coached all four of his sons' Little League baseball teams. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; sons, Richard and his wife, Kathy, Mark and his wife, Brenda, Mike, Ragan and his wife, Cherie; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren who will continue to be influenced by his life; and his brother, Carl of Wichita Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Wayne's name to Abilene Christian University or to the Children's Home of Lubbock, PO Box 2824, Lubbock, TX 79408
