William Carleton Obituary

William Robert Bob Carleton LUBBOCK-Bob Carleton, 75, passed from this world into his reward in Heaven on Thursday, April 7th peacefully in his home. He was born on May 17, 1940, in Temple, OK, to Orpha and Henry Carleton. After spending most of his childhood in Hobbs, NM, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1963. He also came home with a good conduct medal. He claimed it was for four years of undetected crime. He married the love of his life, Sara Ann Renker on Aug. 12, 1961. They had one son, Gregory, who was born at Camp Pendleton. They lived in several cities in Southeastern New Mexico before returning to home in Hobbs in 1974. He loved to fish anywhere, any time. He also liked building projects for family or friends, and bragging on his two granddaughters, Erin Jane and Emily Ann. He also provided a home to almost every stray dog he ever met, along with an occasional cat. Those left to remember him include his wife, Sara; son, Greg, daughter-in-law, Nancy; sister, Lynnette of Hobbs; and brother, Jerry and wife, Donna of Odessa, Texas; granddaughters, nieces and nephews, and of course, Raider, Blaze and Lucky, the current stray dogs! Memorials can donated to Caprock Ambucs club at Caprockambucs.com. Services will be held on Friday, April 15th, at Aldersgate UMC in Lubbock, Texas.
