Al worked for E.G.&G. at NRDS in the 1960 s. I was in a car pool with Al for many miles. Over the 50 years I knew him,we had great times and parties! I will miss Al. See you later!!

My ex- husband and Al invented a pool alarm together about 18 years ago. Due to a third party it fell thru. We spent long hours at their house, so they could work on it. To say the least we became very close. He is one of the most intelligent men I know! I was blessed to be his his hair stylist till the end. I thank god for bringing such a wonderful human being into my life!

The electric vehicle community has lost a brilliant engineer who was always ready to assist those of us who lacked the skills needed to keep our EVs on the road. Al wrote great articles for the EAA newsletter, participated with us in Earth Day events, gave technical lectures at numerous community functions and many times was in my driveway troubleshooting issues with one of my cars. For over twenty years he was my dear friend as well as an invaluable knowledge source. His enthusiasm for
resolving problems, his charming personality and his generous sharing of time and expertise will never be forgotten. I feel fortunate to have known him. My condolences to the Sawyer family on their loss.

Al was a mentor, teacher, leader, technologist, engineer and friend. His position as CEO of Lectra Motors, an electric car company in Las Vegas from 1979 to 1982, put the Las Vegas region years ahead in alternative fuel vehicle adoption. As co-founder of the Las Vegas Electric Vehicle Association during the 1990s, he spent many years sharing his wisdom and experience to help form an active electric vehicle community.

Thank you, Al, for your gentle guidance. I will deeply miss you.

Al is a great inspiration to me and everyone. To the unbeliever, death is the end; to the believers, the beginning.

One of the finest gentlemen I've ever known. A great engineer who explained everything with an quite authority. I am honored for the time he spent teaching me about electric cars and I will do all I can to share that knowledge with others. You will be missed but not forgotten!
