BARBARA DINSMORE Barbara Jean Dinsmore, 80, of Sacramento, Calif., passed away Sept. 27, 2016, following complications from Alzheimer's. Jean was born June 19, 1936, in Cullowhee, N.C., one of eight children. Jean married Glenn Dinsmore Feb. 22, 1964, in Kirkland, Ga., and soon began their happy life together in Las Vegas. They developed many long-time friendships in and outside of the U.S. Air Force community. Jean worked in her earlier years as a secretary and in clerical work for various Las Vegas companies including, Nevada Power, Reynolds Electric and Harley Harmon Insurance. Jean enjoyed baking her popular Khalua cake for friends and family and among some of her favorites, she had a real knack for making fried chicken and southern style green beans. Her love of country music took her to many of the Las Vegas entertainment venues. Her fun-loving spirit was always evident and one of her favorite sayings was, "I am just kidding." Jean was preceded in death by her parents, James Edgar Moore and Julia Baye Moore; brother, Lane Moore; sisters, Betty Jo Ward and Elizabeth Ann Amster; and her beloved husband, Glenn D. "Dinny" Dinsmore. Jean is survived by her brothers, James Moore of Summerville, S.C., James Moore of North Carolina, Stephen Moore and his wife, Roberta, of Charlotte, N.C., and Russell Moore and his wife, Mary, of Cornelius, N.C.; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jean's last four years of her life were spent living in Sacramento to be near the support of her surviving stepchildren, Gloria Heckenlaible of Sacramento and David Dinsmore of Honolulu. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
