Bobby Stewart Obituary

BOBBY STEWART Bobby Jean Stewart, a homemaker, of Henderson, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010. She was born in Nashville, Tenn., in the spring of 1931, to King Edward Sr. and Georgia Henrietta Ford. One of 10 children, Bobby graduated from Pearl High School in Nashville and got her bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Tennessee State University. After graduation, she worked as a social worker in Nashville, and then served in the U.S. Air Force, where she met, married, was honorably discharged and moved with her husband to Kansas City, Mo., Santa Monica, Calif., Los Angeles, Camarillo, Calif., Oakton, Va., back to Camarillo, and Henderson, where they retired in 2000. While in Los Angeles, Bobby excelled as a volunteer at the University of California Los Angeles Hospital, working as a discharge placement specialist for patients needing nursing care and for the UCLA Extension Program as a program advisor. After moving to Virginia, she worked part-time for George Mason University as a program advisor to their Extension Program. Bobby Jean's passions in life were the loving care of her children and grandchildren, fashion and the game of bridge. She is survived by her husband, of 51 years, Dr. Raymond B. Stewart, Maj. Gen. USAF (ret.); son, Vincent (Rene) of Oxnard, Calif.; daughters, Rebecca (David) of Sarasota, Fla., and Vicki (Glenn) of Ramona, Calif.; grandson, Michael (Bayley) of Simi Valley, Calif.; granddaughter, Ashley of Camarillo; grandson, Tyler of Camarillo; granddaughters, McCall Wells of Ramona, and Amanda Marsh of Sarasota; great-granddaughter, Serenity of Simi Valley; siblings, King Edward Ford Jr. of Toledo, Ohio, Georgia M. Levine (Bobby's twin) of Nashville, Constance Williams of Toledo, Jacqueline Kincherlow (Howard) of Compton, Calif., Jennie Laster of Nashville, Arnold Ford of Nashville, and R. Cordell Ford (Karla) of Sacramento; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123. Church viewing will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, with funeral services following, both at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson. A reception will follow at the church. She will be interred Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Arlington National Cemetery. The family asks that all gifts and memorials in her name be made to the Green Valley Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 1798 Wigwam Parkway, Henderson.
