CAROLYN THOMPSON Obituary

CAROLYN THOMPSON Carolyn Marie Thompson, a 54-year resident of Las Vegas, went into the presence of Lord Jesus June 12, 2018, due to complications resulting from pneumonia. She was born October 9, 1945, in Phoenix, Arizona, and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She attended Highland High School in Albuquerque, graduating in 1963. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Adams Wagner and Annie Inez Wagner. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Randy Thompson of Cocoa, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Mike Thompson; daughter, Sara Thompson of Jacksonville, Florida; son, Brian Thompson of Las Vegas; and a number of in-laws, Carole Thompson of Austin, Texas, Mark Thompson of Las Vegas, Anne Thompson of Hiram, Georgia, and Pete (Margie) Thompson of Benton, Arkansas; and several nephews and nieces. She was a faithful member of Spring Valley Baptist Church for many years and, prior to that, Redrock Baptist Church. She taught children's Sunday School in both churches. Carol was a homemaker, skin care consultant, real estate agent and was an outgoing, gracious Christian woman that likely never met someone with whom she could not strike up a conversation, especially if children were involved. For several years, Carol taught English as a Second Language (ESL) as a volunteer with the Spring Valley Baptist Church ESL ministry. In her later years, her great passion was ministering to the Las Vegas refugee community, again, especially to the children. Her commitment to this ministry was such that, in effect, she became a part of so many families. Celebration service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 11, at Spring Valley Baptist Church, 3135 S. Rainbow Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89146. Burial will be is pending. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Spring Valley Baptist Church refugee ministry.

I met her and was no longer a stranger. She did not have strangers. She made me feel welcome, and I consider her to be a precious woman. I am so sorry that she is gone, but in her years on Earth, she touched a lot of lives. I know because I was one.

Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name, please give your servant Carolyn a hug from me. Thank you, God, for sending people like that into the world. Though we grieve and miss her, at least we know she is with You and happy. Just another reason to serve you, God, so we can see her again.

Carol was truly one of God's angels here on earth. I never saw her without a smile, she always thought of others first and I will truly miss her. She opened her arms and her heart to the refugee ministry and considered each of them as her own family. While her light on earth has dimmed, her light in heaven must be one of the brightest!
