Darcy Gogert-Demas Obituary
Darcy was born on January 18, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Dorothy and Wallace Gogert. She held a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno, Nevada and a Master of Public Health degree with postdoctoral training in General Preventive Medicine from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. On April 9, 1995 she married William Demas back in her home city of Las Vegas, Nevada where she remained until her passing. Her ongoing fight with Multiple Sclerosis forced her to retire from practicing medicine several years after her marriage, but she continued her interests in medicine, wellness, and helping others.
Darcy had a passion for horses, cats, and dogs - shelties in particular. She showed shelties at dog shows in the years before her marriage and she worked with her sheltie Summer as a therapy dog after she had retired from medicine. As much as she loved animals, she also loved people. She was a "chatter box" and would talk to anyone and everyone. She considered cashiers, beauticians, and guard gate attendants as friends. Everyone had a kind word for her.
As a child, she had the next door neighbor as a playmate. That playmate became a friend for life and gave her much needed support during her illness.
We wish to thank Diana Hale for all the advice and comfort which she provided.
Darcy was preceded in death by her father, Wallace, and her mother, Dorothy. She is survived by her husband William, her brother Sterling, her sisters Wallisann and Toni, and cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Darcy was sunshine in the form of a human. She was a bright light and brought joy into each room and conversation. She always had a sweet joke with a giggle or bright smile to add to a conversation. It has been a privilege to get to watch the friendship and sisterhood bond between Darcy and my mother. They held a friendship throughout their lives supporting one another and lifting each other through each season and phase of life. It has been such a beautiful model of unconditional endless love in a friendship - the kind that you dream of and strive for. I am so grateful to have known Darcy's kindness, hear the stories of childhood friendship from my mother, and admire the friend she was to my mother. She taught me the lesson of showing up as a friend for a lifetime that will continue to inspire me for the rest of my life. She also showed me the beauty of consistent positivity and maintaining a joyful spirit no matter what.

Darcy was that special friend you hope to have. We met when she moved to Reno to go to medical school. She and her two Shelties moved in and we became fast friends. I will miss her great sense of humor. She had so much grace and strength with her illness. She was so lucky to have such a wonderful partner/husband in Bill. I'm thankful to have so many great memories of our fun times together. God Speed Darcy.

Wishing Darcy's family and friends my condolences. I was saddened to hear about Darcy's passing, although it's been many years since we've seen or spoken, I have such fond memories of our preteen & teen years. Riding out at Edna Gray's Riding school (that is where we met) horse crazy girls! Darcy and her lovely parents were so good to me. We had slumber parties at friends homes numerous times especially in the summers. Unfortunately, the last time I saw her was at my wedding in 1978. I knew she was bound for a future in medicine because she had expressed that was her plan. I'm so glad her goal was met in life. Darcy, always kind and generous. You will be missed, always remembered, never forgotten.

Hello Bill, What a beautiful picture and memorial to precious Darcy. She was a talented, kind professional physician dedicated to her patients.
