Dave Bennett Obituary

Dave Bennett age 62 who resided in Las Vegas Nevada, died at home on June 24, 2020. Dave was born on August 30, 1957 to Lois Teen Irby and David Bennett in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He lived in Milwaukee until 2006 when he moved to Las Vegas to serve as a Corrections Officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Dave took great pride in his work, training fellow officers, and as a member of the SERT team. He retired from LVMPD in February 2020. Dave is survived by his daughter Latrecia Lucas, his son-in-law Eric Lucas, and his grandson Nathanial Lucas. He also has three siblings Sheila Irby, Tony Irby, and Alvis Sterling. Dave Bennett was a true patriarch and real life superhero. It was never a burden for Dave to make time for those around him whether it meant a good talk, a soul warming visit, a helping hand, or a pocketful of candy. Dave was the best father you could have, and considered "Dad" by many. He was also a lifelong member of the Christian congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Services are pending. My heart absolutely broke when I was told of Beano's passing. I've known Beano since he was a young boy, full of energy and precociousness. To Beano's siblings, especially to my life long friend, Sheila, and to his family and the rest of his loved ones...my sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to you all. Beano, rest in heavenly peace and know that you will forever live on in the hearts and the memories of us all. RIHP.

I cannot believe you left us. A double tough brother, fair and always friendly, approachable. I worked a month with you guys on D PLTN. Back in 01July12-01AUG12. Saw your name and wasnt sure, as I saw you picture, it was crushing. A great friendly officer whom also shared in same interests as many of us, God,Family, Country. Martial Arts in true and hybrid of mixed. Motorcycles, Law Enforcement. Well, weve lost a friend, the world lost a great guy, your family and loved ones lost everything but gained a guardian Angel, heaven gained an awesome brother, sadly weve seen far too many good guys leave us. Rest easy ! To your family and friends, we know you are way too young to go, I am so sorry for your great loss, he is truly one of the good guys! Cheers mate, well all see you later, Rest In Peace...

Im so lucky that you are my Uncle! You were always loving, generous, and just fun to be around. You had the best laugh! A true role model, a superhero! You always made time to listen. I dont know who I would be without you! Thank you!

I never had a brother, until I met Davy.
I never had a hero, until I met Davy.
Davy was a force of nature with a huge smile. Davy helped me many times in my life. Many times he knew it, and many times he didn't know it. But EVERY TIME I knew it. I love you and will never forget you Davy.
