DENNIS BOWMER Dennis Bowmer, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully Aug. 23, 2014. Dennis was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Plummer, Idaho. He married the love of his life, Janice, Aug. 5, 1953 and they were married for over 61 years. Dennis and Janice were blessed with three sons, Robert, Gene and Timothy. Dennis was a pioneer in the appliance and television industry. He was a self-made man studying at night and working hard learning the appliance business. Dennis opened his first appliance store, Boulder Appliance in Boulder City in 1957. With great success, he opened a second store in Las Vegas, Bowmer and Berry Showkase, during 1965. Dennis was very active in the community and was past president of several organizations including the Chamber of Commerce in Boulder City, and Ekalaka, Mont., Better Business Bureau in Las Vegas, National Appliance Retail Dealers of America and Lions Club. Dennis was active in the in the Catholic church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to running the appliance store, Dennis, for the past 23 years, also owned a cattle ranch in Ekalaka, Mont. near his grandfather's homestead of 100 years. Dennis contributed generously to the community. He was a well-respected businessman and was everyone's friend. Dennis is survived by his wife, Janice; sons, Robert, Gene and Timothy; three grandchildren, Doug, Mary and Allison; and five great-grandchildren. Viewing will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St., Las Vegas, NV 89121. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Catholic Stewardship Appeal, Diocese of Las Vegas, P.O. Box 26239, Las Vegas, NV 89126, (702) 735-1398.

My Uncle Dennis was a great man. I learned so many things from him. He will be greatly missed, he effected so many peoples lives. Yes he was tough but very fair. I will never forget him and all of the lessons I learned from him.

I loved my oldest brother Dennie. I have a lot of good memories growing up even though he was 10 years older. Dennie & Jan lived so far away so their visits were very special. Gary & I did a surprise visit to Las Vegas three years ago. We shared many old time memories. One thing Dennie & I had in common was the love of horses. We know Dennie is in a better place now after all his health problems. We will never forget both our brothers, Richard also, who are not with us. Dennie loved Jan so much. We will always keep the family in our prayers. Love to Jan & boys, Gary & Mary

Dennis was very helpful and considerate. Our family bought appliances from his BC and LV stores. We wondered where he moved after the stores closed. My sympathy and prayers are with your family.
