I've often remembered "Mrs. Langford", especially as my children have started school. I'm always hoping that their new teachers will be like her. She was my first grade teacher as well as the major inspiration to me to do my best in everything. I lived a whole school year just to make her smile and try to get an "A+ SmileyFace Super !!!" on an assignment. She challenged us and genuinely loved each of her students. She is an absolutely wonderful person and friend and an exemplary role model for us all.

I knew Sister Langford growing up. Back then we had "Roadshows" that we put on at church . 1975 "Hunk of Junk" was one of the best, she wrote songs, directed and much more . She had so much spunk! Those were the days. Miss Her ! She's probably dancing and singing in Heaven.

Grandmother told a favorite story after Grandson Scott, still in diapers, was left with her during a family vacation. Despite admonitions, he continued playing with her refrigerator. She finally carried him to a toy castle, pointed and said, "This is a 'Yes' 'Yes'". Then, carried him back to the fridge, pointed and said, "This is a 'No' 'No'". Back to the toys: "This is a 'Yes' 'Yes'". Return to the fridge, "This is a 'No' 'No'". After repeating the process several times, she indicated the fridge and asked Scott, "Okay, what's this?" to which he replied, "That's a refrigerator, Grandmother."

Her love of children, education and teaching extended beyond the classroom, influenced us all, and her many students -- occasionally with unexpected results. I'll miss you Grandmother.

About six years ago, Sister Langford and I walked together. I had 3 very little boys and didn't know how I was ever going to get through being a Mom but 3 times a week Sister Langford would tell me I was doing a wonderful job. I know she helped me more than I ever helped her.

Grandma Langford has been a wonderful inspiration to me. Her faith in God and miracles come to mind when I face challenges. She was especially a great influence to me when I was a lonely college student seeking direction in life; at one point I spent a wonderful weekend in the warmth and love of her home, watching movies and sharing some of her homemade meals. I love her and am proud to be her namesake.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I am so glad she was such a good mother as I knew Gordon and attended high school with Janet. So I was aware of the great people they were and as they say: "The acorn never falls far from the tree." May the Lord bless and keep you until you meet again. Tom Jackson (North Las Vegas, NV)

Mrs. Langford was my first grade teacher at C.T. Sewell. She was always a warm and loving teacher who expected the best from us. She was one of the first people to inspire me to become a teacher (which I did). We kept in touch throughout her life, and when I served as a missionary at age 21, she wrote me letters. What an amazing lady. What an amazing life.
