Eleanor Wetzel Obituary

ELEANOR WETZEL Eleanor "Ellie" (Ringeisen) Wetzel passed away peacefully at her home in Henderson, Wednesday evening, Oct. 3, 2007. Ellie was born Nov. 21, 1936, in Valley Stream, N.Y. She had lived in the Las Vegas valley since 1979, after moving with her family from her home in Queens, N.Y. Ellie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister. She is survived by her husband, Ed; her son, Edward; daughters, Darlene, Ellie, and Kim; four grandchildren, Daniel, Holly, Benjamin, and Julie; and her brother, Fred. Ellie's life was filled with compassion and kindness for people and animals. God blessed her with a heart of unlimited capacity and generosity. She was the stray cat feeder in the neighborhood, the bread-for-the-birds lady, and always kept spare dog biscuits on hand should a canine happen to wander her way. Ellie rescued dozens of cats and other animals in her life and nursed them back to health before finding them good homes. Ellie always had a smile for a stranger, never missed sending a card on a birthday or special occasion, and loved giving gifts to others "just because." She'll also be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her unique and contagious laugh; her love of movie classics; working in the garden; beautifying the house; bingo; walking; and of course, spending many hours, but very few dollars, shopping. We know Ellie went to that special place in heaven reserved for the best moms, best wives, and best friends. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. In lieu of flowers, Ellie requested that memorial gifts be made to the ASPCA.
