Ernie Vozikis

Ernie George Vozikis, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2006. He was born May 13, 1927, in East Moline, Ill. Ernie was a proud son of Greek immigrants, Antonia and Gus Vozikis. Ernie was a musician and magazine publisher. In his musical career, Ernie recorded numerous albums and had a chart topping single. Ernie performed with the Benny Goodman Orchestra and also served in the U.S. Air Force. Ernie married Reeda Marx in 1957, in Muncie, Ind. Ernie was the proud father of three sons, Pete, Chris and Jim; and daughter, Annie. In 1987, Ernie moved to Las Vegas. He was the creator and publisher of local magazine "Spotlite on Las Vegas". Ernie loved his life, his friends, music, sports, his dogs and most importantly his family. Ernie was known for his friendly smile, outgoing personality, and sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonia and Gus; brothers, Peter and Jim; sisters, Georgia, Sophie and Mary; and son, Chris. Ernie will be greatly missed by his wife, Reeda; sons, Pete G. Vozikis and Jim G. Vozikis; daughter, Annie Vozikis-Stoltenberg; son-in-law, Terry M. Stoltenberg; daughters-in-law, Marie Vozikis and Dilymar Vozikis; granddaughter, Annie C. Vozikis; sisters, Christine Pappas and Angeline Pallock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Private services are being held.
