FRANK ALTAMURA Obituary

FRANK ALTAMURA Frank Altamura, centenarian, passed away peacefully April 30, 2019, in Las Vegas. He was born December 12, 1917 in Bronx, NY, the devoted son of Vincent James Altamura and Rosealia (Careri) Altamura. He leaves behind his loving wife, of 27 year,s Joan (Harned) Altamura; and his four children, Steven Altamura, Patricia Sauerbrei and son-in-law Thomas Sauerbrei, Lydia King and partner, John Ovnik, and Frank Altamura. Surviving also are his brother, Anthony Altamura and his wife Pricilla; sister Norma Ponzio; and sister-in-law, Camille Altamura. Frank was a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, Michelle Gabriel, Richard Altamura, Paul Seifert and wife Daniella, Douglas Altamura and wife Jennifer, Ryan King and wife Nedie, and Marc Altamura; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Benjamin and Julienne Gabriel, Grace, Aiden, and Ava Altamura, and Gabriella and Nicholas Seifert. He was the proud uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Frank grew up in Queens, NY, one of 10 siblings and started his work career early to help support his family. He served five years in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II and worked as a salesman and then a driver for Wilson Freight Forwarding Company for 30-plus years. He retired in Las Vegas in 1980 where he lived out the rest of his life. He lived a life that demonstrated love of family first, self-reliance and generosity to all. He loved sports and Sinatra. His favorite pastime was going to the Orleans Hotel and Casino where he loved and was loved by many devoted friends who kept him young, active and happy. Interment will be at 11:20 a.m. Tue., May 14, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Boulder City, NV 89005.
