HERBERT STEIN Obituary

HERBERT STEIN, M.D. Herbert L. "Herb" Stein, M.D., 78, of Las Vegas, passed away March 3,, 2014. He was a resident of Las Vegas for 16 years, sharing his home and heart with his wife, of 10 years, Marlene Stein. Born June 21, 1935, in New Kensington, Pa., he was the son of Ethel and Leon Stein of Ambridge, Pa. He completed his pre-med at Bethany College in three years. Member of Theta Beta Pi, and acquired his medical degree at the Temple University School of Medicine in 1960. He served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force, 1960-1962, and was assistant clinical professor at UCLA while in private practice in allergy and immunology in Northridge, Calif. He was an avid poker player, Steelers and Pirates fan. He was a man of high standards and accomplishments with an exemplary life. Herb is survived by his wife, Marlene; his children, Laura (Nikhil) and Evan (Josee); siblings, Barbara (Michael) and Jack (Chris); grandchildren, Vikram, Mira, Shanti and Ali; and his wife's family, who became near and dear to his heart. Memorial services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. Celebration of Herb's life will be at 1:30 p.m. at E-String, 2031 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, NV 89014, (702)437-8764. In lieu of flowers, donations may go to www.pokergives.org
