James Cozad Obituary

JAMES COZAD James M. Cozad, 68, of Henderson, passed away in peace Jan. 12, 2008, after a nine-month battle with esophageal cancer. He was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Wheatland, Wyo. Jim met his wife, and love of his life, at Chadron State College in Nebraska. They had resided in Las Vegas with their children since 1974. Jim was a dedicated school teacher with the Clark County School District for 23 years, with a master's degree in education. He retired in 1997, and greatly enjoyed the past 11 years traveling and spending time with his wife and family. Jim was passionate about woodworking and fishing near their home in West Yellowstone, Mont., and had an infectious, mischievous sense of humor that we all enjoyed. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Cozad of Henderson; sons, Kyle Cozad and his wife, Amy, of Jacksonville, Fla., Greg Cozad and his wife, Pam, of Fairfax, Va., and Mark Cozad and his wife, Townley, also of Fairfax; his daughter, Kristyn Cozad of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; as well as, his sisters, Beverly, Betty and Tammy. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Green Valley United Methodist Church, 2200 Robindale Drive in Henderson. Donations can be made to Odyssey Harbor House, 4011 McLeod Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89121, or to the Nevada Cancer Institute, One Breakthrough Way, Las Vegas, NV 89135.
