James McMullens Obituary

James William McMullens age 69, of Beatty, Nevada died, Monday, June 16, 2003 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. McMullens was born and raised in Scott County, VA (Yuma Community) and had resided in Beatty, Nevada. He was a very kind and dedicated person to the service of his country. He was a very loving Brother who was a security blanket for his whole family. He will be missed so much by all his family and friends. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed with the Government Services as a radar electronic technician and was also of the baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; Hoy Raymond and Sarah Minnich McMullens; brother, Carl E.; brother-in-law, Wade Travis; niece, Ann Boucher; step-father, Auburn Tate; step-sisters, Helen Dean, Shirley Grizzle and Duel Tate. Surviving are sisters; Virginia M.A. Travis of Johnson City, Tenn.; Linda M. Cheek and husband Carl David Cheek of Church Hill, Tenn.; step-sister, Georgia McGee of Gate City, Va.; special nieces and nephews; Caria R. Hensley, Dennis N. Anderson, Larry, Barbara Merrill, Virginia O'Connor. Calling hours are 12 - 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Colonial Funeral Home in Weber City, Va. and anytime at the home of his sister Linda Cheek. Funeral services will be conducted in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, with Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating. Music will be provided by Lee Smith Singers. Pallbearers will be Carl Cheek, Dennis Anderson, Jeff Hensley, Lewis McMullins, Hubert McMullins, and Ivan Taylor. Honorary Pallbearer will be Travis Anderson. Burial will be at Holston View Cemetery following the services. Memorial contributions may be made to MEOC Inc., PO Box 888 Big Stone Gap, Va., 24219 or Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW c/o Ernest Hooven, 721 Unionhill St. Kingsport, Tenn., 37660.
