I knew James Toney in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Though I did not see him often I remember him returning home after serving in the military. He was a big deal for us because he was an amazing musician. My uncle Richard Davis was his first wife's stepfather. I saw him and met up with him in The Netherlands at the North Sea Jazz Festival in the mid it's and later in Vegas. He told me that he remembered me and my family. I really appreciated his kindness towards me.
