Dear Ellen and Family...
We have known Jay since Jr. High School. He was a stand-up man, pleasant and kind. A great athlete, a fine academecian, a generous citizen, and a devoted family man. And, he still is. We believe you and we will see him again. Life can be Eternal. May the good Lord comfort and cheer you, and Jay's siblings and Mom Barbara.
Love, Dave and Terese Cracroft, Salt Lake City

In 1984 I moved to Las Vegas and began working with Jay at Jolley, Urga, & Wirth. Jay was always patient and kind when I would ask for help in legal matters. He was a mentor to many of us younger attorneys back then, and continued to be so even as we grew older. Thanks for being a great mentor and friend. Randy Rumph

"I can say he was my friend. We never went out socially but he was my friend. He told everybody to hire my services, because he was my friend. He always had a word of encouragement for me on my busy schedule, because he was my friend. He was happy to see me every time I went to his office, he was my friend.
Jay, I'm sorry I left the service before the end. I didn't want you to see me breaking down. I know you understand because you are my friend.

It has been a privilege and honor to be Jay's legal assistant these past 11+ years. I have truly been working with one of the most brilliant, ethical and above all kind lawyers I have ever worked with during my 28 years in this business. I will miss him dearly and am so grateful to be associated with the firm that bears his name and others just like him. We will carry on following his great example. My love and support go out to all of his family.

I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Jay's passing. He was a scholar, a gentleman, a fantastic advocate and a friend. As a mediator Jay was instrumental in resolving several cases in which I was acting as counsel. On the rare occasion we were adversaries he conducted himself with the utmost professionalism and dignity. His passing will leave a void in the legal community here in Las Vegas. May God be with you Jay and with your family in their time of need.
