JOSEPHINE SHREAD Josephine V. She is survived by her husband, of 67 years, Raymond J. Shread; daughter, Irene Anderson, and her husband, Wayne of North Las Vegas; sons, Richard Shread, and his wife, Beverly of Baton Rouge, La., and Donald Shread and his wife, Susie of Austin, Texas; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jeremy Nunes and his wife, Monique, their son, Noah of North Kingstown, R.I., Brian Nunes and his fiance, Jennifer, and his children, Brandon and Michaela of Greenwell Springs, La., Gregory Nunes and his wife Jaime, and their children, Solie and Manny of Blackstone, Mass., Jessica Nunes and her daughter, Rylee of Coventry, R.I., Andy Shread and his wife, Hannah of Baton Rouge, Mary Margaret Overby, her husband, Derek, and their son, Hawkins of Covington, La., Tyler Shread and Collin Shread, both of Austin. Ballou Co in Rhode Island. She worked in the Accounts Receivable Department for 27 years. Before that, her primary job was to be a mother while working various jobs at a bakery and an ice cream parlor. Josephine and her husband were active members of St. John and Paul Church in Coventry, where they ran many parish dances, parish carnivals, 20/20 clubs and were moderators for the Catholic Youth Organization. Their whole life revolved around the church and they sent their children to Catholic schools from beginning through high school. So sorry to learn of the loss of your dear Josie~though I always knew her as Ma Shread.
She was always so kind and caring and welcoming to me.
She will be missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
I am glad I had that opportunity.

Ray and Jo certainly were assets to Ss. John & Paul parish in Rhode Island for many years. Father Doyle and I regularly counted on their help with the youth ministry. They were excellent parishioners as was their fine family. Jo will be remembered at my Masses this weekend.

Respectfully,

My sincere sympathy to Irene, Ricky and Donald on the loss of your mom. I enjoyed looking at some of the old photos and can vividly remember the Ashmont St. house at which some of the photos were taken.

Nana,
It's hard to believe that you are gone. I'm having trouble grasping it. I'm angry at myself for not understanding how fleeting our time is here on Earth. You were a beautiful soul. You always had a kind word and a compliment for everyone you saw. You put your family first and you always made me feel loved. The world was a better place with you in it and when you left this world, a piece of my heart went with you. I will always hold onto your voice asking me every time we spoke, "..but, are you happy?" And telling me how much you loved me. I just hope you know how much I love you too. I will be ok, but I will always miss you. :(

I am so sorry for your loss, Irene. May your mother find rest in God's eternal kingdom; may her memory be eternal.
As is written in the Book of Proverbs about women--wives and mothers:
"Who can find a woman of worth? Far beyond jewels is her value. . .
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband, too, praises her:
'Many are the women of proven worth,
but you have excelled them all.'
Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting;
the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Acclaim her for the work of her hands,
and let her deeds praise her at the city gates."
(Proverbs 31: 10, 28-31)

Party on, Nana!
