LARRY JENKINS Obituary

LARRY JENKINS Larry Carrol Jenkins lost his struggle with cancer December 29, 2017. He was born September 7, 1949, and was a 64-year resident of Las Vegas. He was devoted to family, friends, pets and the Bible inspired his life. Larry built friendships lasting from elementary school to this day. Larry graduated from Rancho High, class of 1967 with a scholarship to UNLV. He was a humble man, a hard act to follow. He loved his 57 Chevy and music from Johnny Mathis to Jimmy Hendricks. A song could make him cry or laugh. An unforgettable smile and a hearty laugh, his chuckle was a warning sign of fun and mischief. Larry loved unconditionally. He enjoyed exploring nature with his dogs and watching sports with a cat of two. His collection of rocks and odd shaped tree branches made it possible to build habitats for desert turtles and the making of original walking sticks. Larry put volunteering and coaching sports for his grandchildren first. Patient, never in a hurry, especially when speaking, slow and steady. You'd better pack a lunch whenever he explained something! Talented in creating art with ornamental iron, led him to own and operate Desert Iron Craftsmen. Award winning designed stand at many Las Vegas hotels today. He became a welding inspector for the Department of Environmental Protection, followed by completing the intake tower at Lake Mead. Larry and his wife bought their dream home in Arizona with a breathtaking sunrise and sunset. Larry is reunited with his father, Howard Jenkins; mother-in-law, Anna Didier; and brother-in-law, Ray Sadberry. Larry is survived by his wife, of 40 years, Diann; four children, Paris, Fawn, Noah and Chase; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Louella Jenkins; two sisters, Vicki Jenkins-Anderson and Brenda Jenkins-Sadberry. One of his last statements, "How much better could Heaven be? For, I have lived a great life." His wish was to go to his majestic plateau, overlooking canyons. He will have his wish. There are no words to describe how much Larry is missed. He gifted to us, Believe in Love, Hope, Faith, throughout all of life's endeavors.

I am so sorry, I didn't know Larry had gone to join Ken in Heaven. I lost contact with so many people after Ken passed...so sorry for your loss Dianne and family. Larry was such a great guy. I'm sure you miss him tremendously as I do my Ken.

Larry was always kind and genuine. I painted a flower pot and gave it to him for xmas some years ago. He made a point when I would see him at work to tell me he still had it. I am very sorry for you loss.

This is my Husband of 40 years.....I am a little lost right now. He loved his family so much & for his sake he was able to see them all before he went home. I will always remember the stories he would tell me if I asked a question....o Lord ....it would b a 2 hour answer! He loved his German Shepherds more than most people! I can honestly say they were his life! I already look for you in the house sometimes then I remember.....there will never be another love for me....you, Larry were my world, still are!
Your wife Diann!
