Leon Wulfenstein Obituary

Leon Andrew Wulfenstein, 65, passed away peacefully in his home the morning of April 28, 2006, after a brief but valiant struggle with cancer. Leon, born July 17, 1940, in St. George, Utah, to James E. and Velma Wulfenstein, was a 1958 graduate of Las Vegas High School and received his associates degree in science from Dixie College. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper stationed in Panama and later as a Reservist. He served an LDS mission in the Northern Indian Mission. Leon married Kathryn Musser Sharp, Feb. 16, 1968, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They shared their lives in St. George, Pahrump, and Las Vegas. Together they raised seven children. Leon was a friend to all, known for his outgoing nature and generosity for friends and strangers alike. Leon is survived by his sister, Vera (Babe) Murphy; brother, Ray Wulfenstein; wife, Kathy Wulfenstein; and seven children, Paul Wulfenstein (Jeanine), Wayne Wulfenstein, Annette Egbert (Dennis), Christianne Kendall (Russ), Diana Miller (Dave), Elizabeth Amoroso, and Juliann Thorp (Kevin). Leon's greatest joy was time spent with his 17 grandchildren, whom he was very proud of, Jordan Kendall, Jesse Amoroso, Andrew Miller, Ashlan Kendall, Noah Egbert, Steven Miller, Braedon Kendall, Anthony Amoroso, Kathryn Egbert, Tyler Miller, Boston Thorp, Natalie Wulfenstein, Justice Thorp, Adrianna Egbert, Maya Kendall, Alaina Miller and Trent Wulfenstein. Though Leon will be missed, our Family is Forever. A viewing will be from 7-8 p.m. Monday, May 1. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, located at 6325 W. Hacienda Ave., in Las Vegas. Interment to follow at 4 p.m. in St. George, Utah.
