Lex Lawson Obituary

Lex E. Lawson, age 74, was taken suddenly Monday, May 30, 2005. Lex was born in California, Mo., Dec. 21, 1930, where he grew up on a midwestern farm. During his twenties Lex joined the U.S. Air Force, with a tour in England. Then he worked in the Marshall Islands. In 1956, Lex was assigned to the Nevada Test Site where he met his wife, Paula. They were married in 1957, in Juarez, Mexico. Future assignments included Los Alamos, New Mexico, the Nevada Test Site, the Titan II Missile Project in Arkansas, Cape Canaveral in Florida, and finally in 1966, back to the Nevada Test Site where he worked until retiring in 1993. Lex was a dedicated Red Cross volunteer, called to many local and distant disasters over the years. He also volunteered 15 years at the Nevada Child Seekers Memorial Golf Tournament. Lex is survived by his wife of 48 years, Paula R. Lawson; their daughter, Brenda Davidson of Henderson; his sister, Ruth Ensminger of Kansas; sisters-in-law, Rhea and Ingrid Covey; and brother-in-law, William Covey, all of California. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. A remembrance gathering will follow at 5353 Stacey Ave. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Nevada Child Seekers or American Red Cross.
