Lily Hampton Obituary

LILY HAMPTON Lily Dessie Hampton, our Dessie, died suddenly Sunday, April 20, 2008, in Victorville, Calif., after a brief, terrible illness. She was born in Tonopah, Aug. 9, 1956, to Edith Petty Joyal, the fourth of five girls. Dessie attended high school at Pahranagat Valley High School, where she was a cheerleader and active in student government. After graduation in 1974, she attended Evans Cosmetology College and taught there after her graduation. She was a hair stylist in Las Vegas for many years. Dessie married James Franklin in 1976, and later divorced. She married Gail Hampton in 1982, and later divorced. Then she met the love of her life, Charles Bertram, in 1998, and they spent 10 happy years together. Dessie was so proud of her children and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren, who were such a source of delight and happiness. She was wonderful with youth and spent many years as a young women's leader. She loved music and lead a marvelous regional children's choir in Las Vegas for several years. Dessie was a joyous fun-loving person who lit up every room she walked into. She was sweet and kind, with a great love of life. How we will miss her! She is survived by her beloved companion, Charlie; her treasured sons, Wayland (Heather) Hampton of Las Vegas, Scott (Diana) Hampton of Wenatchee, Wash., Dustin (Kylee) Hampton, and Trevor Hampton, both of Cedar City, Utah; and Kimberly (Paul) Evans of Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Cedar Stake Center. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West in Cedar City, and at the church before services from 9:30-10:45 a.m., under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
