Lucy Lewis Obituary

LUCY LEWIS Lucy Marjorie Lewis, 81, a homemaker, of Las Vegas, passed away Oct. 19, 2011. She was born March 24, 1931, in Astoria, Ore., and was a 56-year resident of Nevada. Working as an executive secretary at first the Fremont, then the Mint Hotel, she soon retired from the workplace for her favorite job which was motherhood. Lucy enjoyed many years as an active member of the Rose Garden Club and Las Vegas Flower and Arrangers Guild. With her own life touched by her autistic child, Lucy spent many years supporter of the Nevada Association for the Handicapped and also The Special Olympics Bowling League. A talented pianist, her music brought joy to many. Lucy's greatest joy in life was time spent with her family as mother of three, grandmother and loving homemaker. Lucy was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Kuluris; mother, Alexandra Kuluris; sister, Patricia (Kuluris) Kraemer; and former husband, Leo Lewis. Lucy is survived by her daughters, Linda Lewis of Portland, Ore. and Lydia (Lewis) Clarke and husband, Shane of Las Vegas; son, Larry Lewis of Las Vegas; sisters, Mary Kuluris of Long Beach, Calif., and Helen Ryhlick and husband, Peter Ryhlick of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; granddaughter, Jessica Maines of San Diego; and grandson, S. Dawson Clarke of Las Vegas. There will be a celebration of life at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Reception will follow at Garfield's Restaurant on the water at Desert Shores.

Oh the memories I have of your mom. Many Christmas Eves together. The joy Lucy had of being a mom. I was a little girl when our family went to your mom and dad's wedding reception. I am sorry for your loss.
