I just learned of this. It has been a while, but I should say a few things.
I worked for Manfred for about a year and a half when I was 19, around 1964. We built the cabinets and display cases for The Audiophile Center and Christianson's Jewelers at 1050 Sahara Ave. We also built a room on the back of his sister's house and a few other minor jobs.
I enjoyed working for Manfred very much. It was one of the best jobs I had in my young life. He was a consummate professional and knew his business thoroughly. Even though it was not an official status, I considered myself his apprentice and have always felt proud to have worked for him.
He was a good-natured man, and during the time I worked for him, I do not recall there was ever a harsh word. I remember that whenever something went wrong, he had a favorite expression that he would exclaim with childlike enthusiasm: "Machine Kapute!!!"
Thank you Manfred.
