Margaret Bursett Obituary

MARGARET BURSETT After more than a three year battle with cancer, Margaret Sue Bursett, 64, passed away peacefully in the early hours of April 30, 2009, with her husband by her side. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Coombs. Margaret is survived by her husband, of 43 years, Clifford Bursett; daughter, Marlene Minster; son-in-law, Kevin Minster; son, Darrel Bursett; son, Greg Bursett; daughter-in-law, Ellen Bursett; mother, Verna Coombs; brother and wife, Briant and Voni Coombs; sister and husband, Donna and Joe Corno; sister and husband, Joyce and Jim Burdick, sister and husband, Roberta and Blaine Ostler; and grandchildren, Byron Bursett, Zoe Minster, Sierra Bursett, Ty Bursett and Kyle Bursett. Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother of three, and grandmother of five. Born Jan. 11, 1945, in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Burbank, Calif. She lived her life as a strong and dedicated member of the LDS church. She attended BYU-Hawaii for her college general education. It was during this time that she gained a deep love and appreciation for the Polynesian culture that stayed with her throughout her life. Margaret continued her education at BYU-Utah, where she obtained her B.S. degree in social work. At age 21, she was married and sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple to Clifford Benjamin Bursett. They made their home in Camarillo, Calif., where together, they raised three beautiful children. Margaret worked 20 years for the Ventura County Public Social Services Agency in various social work functions; her favorite being as an adoptions case worker. After retiring in 2004, the couple relocated to Las Vegas, where they planned to relax, travel and live out the remainder of their lives. Her life travels included the United States, Canada, Europe, China, New Zealand and Samoa. Her other life passions were music, tennis, church activities and family. No words can express the love and care Margaret had for all five of her grandchildren. We are now blessed to know she will be watching over them. Her warm heart and kind nature inspired all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday, May 4. The funeral service will follow, both at the Deer Springs LDS Ward, 6051 Dorrel Lane (at N. Jones Blvd.), Las Vegas, NV 89131. Graveside services will follow the funeral, at Palm Memorial Park - Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89131.

I was truly saddened to hear of Margaret's passing. We were blessed on having Margaret as the adoption worker for our first daughter. She was a very supportive and nurturing person. So I take solace in the fact the she will forever be part of our family's stories. I have repeated to my daughter many times, the day Margaret appeared in our driveway with a beautiful little child in her arms. My sincere condolences to the family.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Margaret. She was a wonderful friend, but because the wards were divided, I had not associated with her for many years. Before that, we worked together for many years in Primary and in other callings in the Church. One thing I remember about Margaret is that she never had a harsh word to say about any other person. I think she is singing with the angels today or maybe the Singing Mothers.

I'm saddened with the news of Margaret passing. Margaret was my visiting teacher for many years. Margaret knew how to be a friend; she was there for me when I had a difficult birth of my daughter Candace, then again when I was going thru my divorce. I will always be grateful to her.

Dear Cliff--Both of you were great examples of hard-work, service and family values.
Margaret was a dedicated visiting teacher and you were a great home teacher to our family.
You haven't lost Margaret, you know where she is; she's starting a new career (not as a dinner-group-coordinator but something much more important).
It was fun to have you guys as friends. Take care of yourself and when you're in Camarillo come see us, we'll go to dinner.
Love you, Lew & Lorrie Stolworthy
