Martha Hussain Obituary

Dr. Martha Dee Sipes Hussain was called to be with her Heavenly Father Tuesday morning Feb. 9, 2005, at her home in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 21, 1941, to Albert and Louella Sipes in Horton, Kan. She was raised in Graham, Mo., and Shawnee Mission, Kan. She then ventured out on her own, hitchhiking through Europe before attending the University of Kansas. Upon completion of her bachelors degree at KU, Martha then attended the University of Indiana, where she met and married Gaylan Mahmoud Hussain in 1968 as well as earning a doctorate in psychology. She lovingly nurtured her two surviving sons, Adam Jeffery Hussain of Las Vegas and Gaylan Andrew Hussain of Burbank, Calif. She also nurtured, comforted and counseled many many other children and parents alike throughout the Clark County School District, and taught many of them how to cope. Even passing up several opportunities to work in the private, more lucrative sector. She was a devout Christian and loyally attended the First Good Shepard Lutheran Church. She also cared deeply for her feline friends and donated generously to the Humane Society and the SPCA, as well as numerous Christian and humanitarian causes. Martha was incredibly brave in her final years despite struggling with a hand-full of physical ailments. And she was a brilliant woman, and a loving mother, wife and friend. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Services were previously held. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the First Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 301 Maryland Parkway.
