MERVIN INVERSON Mervin Reber Iverson, 79, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, from pulmonary fibrosis. Merv was born Sept. 9, 1937 in St. George, Utah to Erma Reber and Victor E. Iverson. He graduated from Dixie High School, Southern Utah University, Arizona State University, and earned his Ph.D from the University of Utah in 1974. Merv was a prominent educator in the Clark County School District, taking a leave of absence to serve as an administrator for Aramco Schools in Saudi Arabia from 1980-1985. During these years his family enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world. Having a school named after him was a cherished honor of his life. Following his retirement from CCSD in 1995, Merv started a financial services business to assist fellow educators. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Merv served his community in many capacities over time and will be remembered for things like his crushing softball fast pitch, and his love for the mountains and his cabin. He is survived by his wife, Sherie; children, Kerry, Darin (Tammy), Bradley (DeAnna), Jeff, Shawn (Kim); and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Maxine Tanner; and brother, Austin (Lorna) Iverson of St. George. He was loved very much by his family. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the LDS Stake Center, 375 N. Hollywood Blvd., Las Vegas. Viewing will be from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Burial will be at noon, Saturday, Feb. 11, in the Parowan, Utah Cemetery.
