We have known Mike for a very long time and have lots of happy memories. Like raising our children together in the 8o's,family trips in his dads car, weekends spent hanging out at grandma's house. His big beautiful smile when he greeted us with his famous "What Doing?" Can't forget his silly M C Hammer pants. Just some of the many things he did that put a smile on our faces. Our hearts and prayers go out to his beautiful family' Glad we were a part of them.

Michael,
A year has passed already and though I go on with my daily life you are always in my thoughts. I felt your presence the other day and felt assured my day was a blessing. I know that we didn't see you as often as we would have liked but now I know you watch over all of us until we can be reunited in heaven. I hope you know just how much you were loved as a brother and son.
I love you!

Well "Son", mom did say it best...she always has a way with words. It is hard to believe though that a year has passsed since you left us. I have tried for the past year to come up with the right words to say myself.
I believe that it has been so hard, because I wasn't prepared to say goodbye and I'm still not...as Grampa would always say "its not goodbye, just so long"!
As my brother, you were the world to me. Following in your footsteps through school always made me proud...saying I was your little sister to anyone that asked if we were related always brought a smile to my face....little did I know, however, that your footsteps were sometimes mis-steps!!! That never mattered though, my pride ran deep...still does and always will!
I miss you more than words can say and my eyes fill with tears whenever I think of you. My memories are many and I treasure them all. They say a picture is worth a thousand words....well, we have many pictures, tons of stories and thousands upon thousands of words to forever keep you alive in our hearts....you are "forever young"....so long "Son"
Love your sister,
Kimmie

Dear Son, it is almost a year now since you left this earth and your soul is resting with Jesus. You accomplished a lot in your short time here on earth. You left a legacy of three beautiful children, three beautiful grandchildren, and you left us with many, many beautiful memories. Not bad for a kid your age. I hope you know how very much we love you. You were, are and always will be our hearts and our pride. Until we meet again, dear son, Semper Fi. Love, Mom and Dad

I went to High School with Mike, haven't seen him since then. We went to the Girls Reverse together. Fond memories of Mike being so good looking that night with him in a purple shirt and black vest. It was a fun night. You never think any of us will be gone at this age. I know how much he will be missed by all. God Bless your family.

Mike was a guy that I went to high school with; he was one of those guys you just wanted to have as your friend. I saw him at our 30th reunion and everyone was so happy to see him; he was one of the popular guys and it was that way again 30 yrs later.I am sorry that he could not have made it to the last high school reunion in Sept. 2010; he will be always remembered and missed by so many of his fellow classmates. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family; rest in peace Mike Mattern.
