Michael Shumway Obituary
Michael moved to Las Vegas and met the love of his life, Helen Claire Atwood, in the laundromat at the apartments when she was attracted to his cute dog, Brandy. Mike and Helen were blessed with two handsome sons, Robert Burton Shumway and Ryne Michael Shumway. He was a loving father who spent hours coaching Little League and attending ice hockey games.
Michael worked as a carpenter and construction superintendent for over 30 years in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mike had a generous and giving nature. He was constantly buying gifts and sneaking cash to his nieces and nephews. He took an interest in others and made them feel special. He was an avid sports fan and was able to quote stats of players, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the NY Yankees.
Michael is survived by his wife of 36 years Helen Claire Shumway, his son Robert Shumway (Blair Shipper), Ryne Shumway (Sarah Shumway), grandchildren Anastasia, Alayna and Sylar, sisters Millie Sawyer (Buzz Sawyer) and Cassie Hubbard (Rick Hubbard), sister-in -law Kathy Renner(Les Renner) and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.

My sincere sympathy to Helen and family. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I will always remember the stressful but enjoyable times Mike and I shared at Red Rock Country Club. I will miss his friendship.
