NANCY HERCULSON

1936 - 2016

NANCY HERCULSON Nancy Herculson, of Henderson, passed away Jan. 23, 2016. She was born Sept. 24, 1936, in Chicago, to Ralph and Virginia Weninger. Nancy married Robert Herculson Sept. 7, 1957 after they both graduated from Coe College. Nancy accompanied her husband on a 30-year tour in the U.S. Air Force, where she was the consummate military wife raising three wonderful children and having to play role of mother and father on too many occasions while he was deployed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her only sister, Joan; and her beloved Chihuahua, Buddy. She is survived by her eldest son, Michael (Donna) Herculson of Fort Worth, Texas; her daughter, Heidi (Ron) Mumm of Bluewater Bay, Fla.; and her youngest son, Mark Herculson of Santa Rosa, Calif. She was a proud grandmother to Brandon, Justin, Chad, Ashley, Brandon, Brooke, Ian and Gavin; and a great-grandmother to Tyler, Alexandria, Brody, Brynlee, Banks and Margaux. She is remembered by her family and friends for her generosity, her caring nature and her love of the outdoors which included horseback riding, sailing and skiing. She was an active volunteer in the community and became an avid knitter to the delight of those receiving her works. Burial will be private at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. There will be a celebration of life later this spring for family and close friends. Nancy was an animal lover and her family prefers that all gifts and memorials be in the form of donations to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, bestfriends.org/sanctuary
