Philip Cole Obituary

PHILIP COLE Philip Edward Cole, passed away Aug. 15, 2007, after a lengthy illness at his home in Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife, of 41 years; by three children; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by one sister, Anne; nieces, nephews; and other family members. He was predeceased by his sister, Grace; his mother, Grace M. Cole; and his father, Lewis H. Cole. At the time of his death, Mr. Cole was a retired senior correctional officer for the State of Nevada Department of Corrections, having served the State for 20 years and nine months. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves for six years with perfect attendance and an outstanding record. Mr. Cole was proud of his academic achievements, having earned four college degrees. He had an AA in chemistry, a BA in telecommunications and broadcast journalism; a BA in theology, and a three-year Masters of Divinity (theology - Summa Cum Laude). While attending college, he served as a deputy sheriff for the Tulsa County Sheriff's Dept. Mr. Cole worked for Motorola in Phoenix as a gold-plater for 13 years during the space program of the sixties. While living in Arizona, he was a Webelos and Boy Scout leader and a 4th D Knight of Columbus, serving in many community activities. In Nevada, he was a member of the Nevada Chapter of the Marine Corps League. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a tower of strength and a man of great faith out of a pure heart to those who knew him and loved him. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Dost Wattoo for his concern and excellent cardiac care throughout the entire illness. Private services were held for family members only.
