RICHARD AINSWORTH Obituary

RICHARD AINSWORTH Richard Louis Ainsworth, 75, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 10, 2021 surrounded by friends and family. Richard was born January 27, 1946 in Las Vegas to Louis Ainsworth and Betty Conger. He was the oldest of their three boys. in 1958, at age12, Richard moved to Washington, UT with his mom and stepfather, Grant Stevens. At 16, he left high school and moved to Salt Lake City to work until he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1963. Richard was stationed in Puerto Rico and then at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. It was during his time at Davis-Monthan that he enrolled at the University of Arizona working towards a degree in Sociology. In 1971, he married Laura Ann Blalock. They had three children before divorcing in 1984. In 1976, after completing his degree, Richard moved his family back to Las Vegas so he could take a job as a Parole and Probation Officer with the State of Nevada. In 1996, Richard married Elaine Fallang; they were divorced in 2004. After retiring from the State of Nevada in 2006, he met Roseanne Vitavec; they were together until his death. Richard loved hiking and being outdoors and, after retiring, he spent many hours as a volunteer with the Friends of Red Rock. He had a life-long interest in the collecting of both domestic and foreign money as a numismatist. Richard is survived by his three children, Laura (Jason) Lewis, Christa (Jason) Watson, and Thomas "Rick" Richard Ainsworth; four grandsons; two granddaughters; and several brothers and sisters. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Terry and Bob; and two sisters, Leslie and Sherry. A memorial service will be at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City, NV. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to the Friends of Red Rock Canyon (https://friendsredrock.org/donate/)
