RICHARD PENDLETON Richard W. Pendleton, 75, of Henderson, passed away March 30, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Rich was born in Evanston, Ill., May 24, 1935. He attended New Trier High School where he met Lynn, his wife of 56 years. After receiving a degree in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University, he moved to California where he had a long and distinguished career in the aerospace industry. Rich was particularly proud of his contributions to the development and production of Saturn/Apollo rocket engines which played key roles in man's epic first landing on the moon. He also received an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management. Upon his retirement, he and Lynn moved to Henderson where he was very active in the Sun City Anthem community. Rich lived and loved life to its fullest. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; daughters, Debra Shatford of Glendale, Calif., and Laura Kolderup of Darien, Conn.; his sons, Rick Pendleton of Truckee, Calif., and Brian Pendleton of West Hollywood, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, all of whom will truly miss their beloved "Grandad." A service celebrating Rich's life will beat 11 a.m. April 11, at Epiphany Episcopal Church, 9041 Pecos, Suite 4000, Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Rich's honor be made to the St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation, 3001 St. Rose Parkway, Henderson, NV. 89052.
