ROBERT VANNUCCI Robert Anthony "Bobby" Vannucci, of Las Vegas, passed away Oct. 7, 2013. Bobby was a loving and fair man. He is and always will be a part of Las Vegas history, starting as a front desk clerk at the Dunes and making it all the way to president and chief operating officer of the Riviera. Leaving many properties that moved on without him in the dust, literally. He worked at the Dunes, Aladdin and Sands (four times), all of which were imploded. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Yolanda. He is survived by his brother, Johnny; his beloved wife, of 46 years, Nancy; his three children, Troy, Gina and Anthony; and 10 grandchildren. His love will never be lost or forgotten and to know him is to love him. There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Palm Northwest Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Celebration of life will follow, at the Casino MonteLago, at Lake Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

I am sorry this message is so late I just now realized that Bob had passed away. What a kind and giving man. I met Bob in the 1990s when I had just started my business and barely had two dimes to rub together. His guidance and counsel was so valuable and appreciated. Every time I traveled from North Carolina to Las Vegas to do business I felt as though I had a real friend and guiding hand. What a wonderful person.

He was funny. My husband richard worked for him at the riviera. Richard says "there was a class act" everyone loved him. Go gently into the night, you have left us with good memories.

When you start your carrier there is the first person that says YES! Bob gave me my start and also became a good friend … How good is that!… He was a shining example of what a true professional is and gave more back then he took. I will miss him and hope when we get together in the after life we can sit at the table and have a chat.

Bob and I have been friends for over 30 years. We met first at the Sands in 1980 then worked together at Fitzgeralds. He also worked in Reno for a few years where we met for a drink at least once a week. Bob was like a brother to me. He shared many humorous and interesting stories about the "good old days" and the various characters who made that period legendary. Bob is now part of that Las Vegas legend.

Nancy and family, so sorry for your loss.

Good bye Bobby. Rest in Peace my friend.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Nancy and the family.
Thank you to Nancy, it meant so much to me to visit BOB at Hospice a week before he left, when I said to him, "thank you BOB for the opportunity you gave me," he reached for my hand, it was so heartfelt.
BOB will never be forgotten...
In my 30 years in Las Vegas, I have never met a more kind, giving, understanding person like BOB. You will be deeply missed. R.I.P my friend

To the entire Vannucci family, we would like to take this time to say how sorry we are to hear of Bobby's passing. Many years and miles have gone by that we have not been in touch. We were really good friends and shared many dreams. Richard and I are in Florida now and our kids are fairly close by, giving us four grandchildren.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

To Nancy Vanucci and Family-
I had the distinct honor and pleasure in working with Bob at the Sands Hotel for many years. Bob was the consumate professional. He was "old school" & knew how to take care of our customers. He was a mentor to many gaming executives who are in high positions at various properties in Vegas and around the country today.
As the Casino Cage Manger at the Sands,he had high hopes for me. One year he asked me to fill a table with High End customers for our New Years VIP party, the next year it was two tables, and the next year three. He always pushed me to be a Casino Host. Largely because of Bob I became a Casino Host and still am today. I Love You Bob.
"Keep the light on for me"
Your friend always,
Phil Tatum

I can't think of my childhood without thinking of the Vannucci family. Nancy, Troy, Gina and Anthony...our hearts go out to you upon hearing about the loss of Bobby. His laugh still rings in my ears and I think back to the days of Paradise Valley Little League, of late night Shanghai card games and all of the amazing holiday dinners. Then there is my favorite memory of all...seeing Nancy and Bobby dancing at my wedding. While the years have taken my family away from Las Vegas, you are never far from my heart. I will always remember those years fondly and will forever respect the kindness and generosity that Bobby and Nancy showed our family over the many years. May Bobby's memory forever be a blessing! Much love, Beri

I first met Bob at the Sands in the early 1980's. In fact he was the first Marketing Director while I was the Director of Gaming. In 1986 we both went to the Sundance/Fitzgeralds where he was named GM/Vice President, I Director of Gaming. Those were great years...lots of fun and excitment. We both went on to have good careers in the gaming world.I retired in 2002 while Bob went on to become President of the Riviera. I always loooked up to Bob...he was a good man and a good friend. I will miss him. GOD speed Bob. My wife Judy also worked under Bob at the Riviera and always mentioned when Bob would ask about me...that always made me smile...RIP

My sincerest condolences to Nancy and the Vannucci family.
Bob was a mentor to me when I became a desk clerk at the Dunes Hotel way back in 1966, and much of what I learned from Bob helped me decide to select a career in hospitably management. I never saw anybody work so hard around a front desk in those days, and it is sad that he was not given more years on this earth to spend a little leisure time that he certainly earned through a very industrious career.
God rest his soul.

Bob, I will be looking for you at the front desk of heaven. Please don't 'Walk me".

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Bob since 2000 when I started my job at the Riviera. Bob loved the Riviera and that old Las Vegas style.

Bob always knew how to get people to listen to him by talking softly. One day I said to Bob "You always talk so low I can barely hear you" and Bob's response to me was "When you talk loud nobody pays attention - when you talk low people pay attention because they want to hear what you are saying".

I know one thing ~ Bob got a set of those Angel Wings and he is gonna be watching over all of those he loved.

Sending some WARM HUGS out to his wife Nancy, his children and all the little ones too~!!~

BOB may be gone but he will never be forgotten! We will Cherish our Memories of Bob and those Memories will live on in our Hearts Forever! ~ RIP Bob ~
