Robert Vlach Obituary

ROBERT VLACH Robert E. "Bob" Vlach, 70, of Henderson, passed away Dec. 29, 2009. He was born Oct. 18, 1939, in Green Bay, Wis., and was a 15-year resident of Nevada. Bob served in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He worked as a pharmacist for Smith's Food and Drug while in Las Vegas. Bob married Suzanne Hoyer in 1961, and they had two children, Robert Jr. of Wisconsin and Kim D. (Kerry) Taylor of Maryland. In 1984, he married Barbara Jenks Newton and gained three stepchildren, John (Dana) Newton, James (Marla) Newton and Laura (Ti) Godfrey, all of Wisconsin. Bob was a huge football fan of the University of Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. He also loved fishing and hunting. He loved life in all its aspects, and was a gourmet cook. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Pearl (Tirner) Vlach. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; the five grown children; and grandchildren, Hailey, Taryne and Spencer Vlach, Jesse Newton, Amanda and Matthew Godfrey, and Michael and Grady Newton. Memorial services are pending in Madison, Wis. Donations may be made in Bob's name to the University of Wisconsin, in Madison.

Bob was always nice to me, and the best boss I ever had. We thought a lot alike. He brought me to Smith's with him from Kmart, probably adding 10 years to my life. He will be missed by me as well as the entire store.
