Roger Carmel Belanger

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. -- On July 25, 2007, at 9:15 a.m., with his devoted wife, Alice, by his side, Roger Carmel Belanger's earthly journey ended.

Roger was born March 6, 1924, in St. George, Quebec, son of Ernest and Alphrieda (Boucher) Belanger. He married his first wife, Gertrude Rolande Roy on Nov. 4,1950. Their first two children, John Serge and Carmel Mathias, were born in Quebec. In 1956 they moved to Maine where their last two children, Betsy Edna and Patsy Doris, were born. On July 10, 1970, Roger became an American citizen. On May 9,1975, he married Alice J. Eppley; they had 32 wonderful years together in Southbridge.

Roger lived a relatively healthy life until he was diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 80; his death was a result of metastatic disease.

Roger was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Alphrieda; two brothers Real and Roland; two sisters, Doris and Dorothy.

He is survived by his wife Alice; a brother Raoul; his first wife, Gertrude and their four children, John and his wife, Lorraine, Carmel and his wife, Marjorie, and his daughters, Betsy and Patsy. He had nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, including one set of triplets and one set of twins.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Belanger's Funeral Home in Southbridge, where services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday.
